Fun Project - Tiny 1 Ltr Windowsill Nano

If you go with the carbonated water Jon ( how amano first got into co2 ) defo go without livestock. Too hard to get safe levels in a tank that small. Charlie.

Fun Project - Tiny 1 Ltr Windowsill Nano

I did this a Few years ago in an ikea vase ( just like yours ). Daily water changes were essential and no shrimp. They will escape !

A New Adventure (a jungle mess)

She would need to be a good multi tasker. Waving a live hairdryer over a fish tank full of water and not paying attention could be nasty ......or was that the plan ;)

A New Adventure (a jungle mess)

Not only is the tank Amano esq, you now have a team of hairdryer holders as well, just like the man himself ;)

    Project name - Forest

Love the insitu shots. Just what aquascaping is really about. . . . Buckets with bits of kit in and cables wrapping around everything. I can't quite see the wet pubble on the floor, but it must be there somewhere :) The tank looks great, hope it does well. Charlie

Ady, i think the 'gas injection system' is an ADA Vuppa, surface skimmer. Im sure Victor will clear it up.

'Back in the Saddle' 90cm - 1 year on!

Hey Vito, for the surface film you can also buy a skimmer, eheim do one for about 30 pounds, ADA also do one in steel for considerabley more. i think someone has done a review of the eheim one on here, just do a search. Tank is looking nice. Chalire

    Cherry shrimp deaths

Take time to acclimatise them slowly, lights off etc. I would do a water change now aswell after their deaths in the tank to remove any pollution from them.

A New Adventure (a jungle mess)

Ian, i know you are using an eheim 2073 with this and previous set ups. Can i ask how you find this filter in terms of reliability, noise, maintenance etc. I have always used eheim classic canisters and am considering replacing one with a 2073 and would appreciate some feedback from someone who...

    Latest ADA video

Yeah, looked like most of the plants came prepped by his minions in massive boxes. The amount of plants that went in is astounding. Some of the glosso plantlets look like entire pots. Budget is obviously not a problem. I could probably plant the whole tank with one pot ;)
  27. charlie

    Latest ADA video

Thought i would share this with those that aren't aware of the endless ADA videos on you tube. Amano is creating a 240 cm whopper in a university canteen. I'm obviously going wrong by not having a team of slaves to do my 'dirty' work. Hope the link works, if not just copy and paste. Enjoy...

'Back in the Saddle' 90cm - 1 year on!

Looking good now man. Defo let some of the tennelus runners spread. I would plant some hm stems into the gaps around some of the large stones to envelop them a bit more and break the great wall of hm up a bit. Keep the updates coming .

    Groundland - Shallow Aquascape

You turn out some great looking scapes Dan. This does not dissapoint and due to its shape of tank and unusual hardscape ( tree trunk ) really stands out. The fact that it appears to be relatively easy to live with makes it even more impressive. Great stuff Charlie

Ha ha, love the idea that amano re plants just for the photo. That is probably how he escapes from algae issues aswell :) I used to think skate board tricks were never landed, just looked insane in the photos in mags until i started skating and met up with guys who could pull and land kick flips...

Years ago we all used to have corrugated plastic drip trays over the top of our tanks that degraded over time. You have said that you are using a glass top for your tank George, do you find this has any effect on your lighing for the tank ? I would imagine not, provided it is kempt clear of dust...

Keep the pics coming. You have this tank at home every day to get bored of. Some of us have to switch the internet on to get a fix like this. Don't listen to George, what does he know ;). I would let the hc grow for a bit longer and see what happens. Rome wasn't built in a day :)

Urgent!! Shrimp trapped in spraybar hole still alive

Great result. Now you just need to fatten the shrimp up, or crank up the filter so its impossible to swim against the flow ;)

Urgent!! Shrimp trapped in spraybar hole still alive

Another thought . Try blocking the other holes and maybe the shrimp will be forced out ?
  47. charlie

Urgent!! Shrimp trapped in spraybar hole still alive

Remove spray bar from tank, quickly use hacksaw to cut above and below shrimp, effectively taking a slice out of the spray bar, then very carefully use blade os sharp scissors to snip up to the hole the shrimp is stuck in. You will wreck your spray bar but could save the shrimp. Good luck.

will shrimp kill each other if hungry enough?

Just to chuck my ten penneth (sp?) into the mix. I have had amano shrimp chase and eat other amanos in a 200 ltr tank. The eaten shrimp may have been ill but did not show any ill effects prior to becoming the main course for their tank mates. Mlgt may have a point about the pheremones ?

'Back in the Saddle' 90cm - 1 year on!

Thanks for the shot of the full set up Vito, looks really slick. As for the melt if i was you i would dust off the spare Koralia you have and try it out until your spare filter parts arrive. This will eliminate flow from the equation, and if successful will arrest the melt of your HC which...

Great looking tank and journal. Its nice to see your 'home' tank as well as ypur usual gallery tanks. Cyrpts and Anubias in the shrimp tank

Never heard that before. Have kept amano shrimp for over 15 years in tanks with crypts (lots of them) but never anubias. I have never experiencd any problems when trimming or suffering the inevitable crypt melt . 5 to 6 leaves should be fine to trim. I would .
