Morrisons and asda sell thin bleach. I've been buying asdas for a while and it's marked up as Savers thin bleach. I would only use bleach on the lily's though, a toothbrush is good for the rocks.

Thanks. I've found Hemianthus micramthemoides to be an extremely fast grower in previous tanks, plus I like to use a few different floaters at start up to help with all the excess. I would say the emergent growth is dying and being replaced with new growth. As long as you keep seeing new green growth popping up from the substrate I wouldn't be too concerned.

Asda sell thin bleach which I've been using for a while now. Think I've used a morrisons one too. Thin bleach and no added perfumes. Cleans up lily pipes and regenerates purigen no problem

Yes I use a inline diffuser. Lots of others on here use an inline so I'm not sure that is doing it. mine is rather difficult to remove now.

Be mindful if you do dose the tank that you will need to remove all remnants of the medication from the glass and other surfaces before adding your nerites back, but I'm sure it will say that on the meds instructions.

Just want to add that I lost all my ramshorns when I dosed the tank, as well as a few amano shrimp. Coincidence maybe but I'm not sure. I did 2 weeks of daily water changes after the course was completed so I doubt it was ammonia related. I've also not been able to put nerites back in the tank...

Twinstar is a very good led, grows any plant you want, controllable and very very good value for money. I had one for a while. All depends what your plans are regarding your tank, co2 high light or low light no co2 etc.

Yeah that's what I've found recently, I went through a stage of trying to limit my ferts, chasing the reds on the H'ra etc, but the plants all slowed and looked a little unhappy. Since changing back to full EI the HM has exploded and is happily pearling away after a couple hours.

Hey all, Anyone know why my wcmm has gold tips to the ends of his fins? I can only notice it on one of the shoal. Excuse the mess on the buce, just fed in that area so I could feed bloodworm to the cories on the other side of the tank 😂 Pic quality isn't great but I can just make them out.

I prefer that if I'm honest, I really like the whole scape. Much better scale, the cories will love all that space.

I've found a large number of bloodworm and smaller black worms in my water butt, however there is a decent amount of crud/leaf litter and moss at the bottom. Is there an easy way to separate the two so u don't add loads of mess to my aquarium?

Vivid for me, I had some kessils, much prefer the vivid. Colour is much better in my opinion. The kessils have a huge following but I much prefer the vivid.

I'm not entirely sure I could resist the pull of corals. 😁

Thanks, I was thinking that, some equipment is a must for some and not for others I'm quickly seeing. I'm guessing that apart from the light most of the equipment that you seem to accumulate when keeping freshwater fish is suitable for saltwater, within reason.

That colour is still there after using hot water and a pipe brush, it's also the same colour inside the cabinet so I'm not sure if it's due to light. I've not tried soaking it as I wasn't sure anybody else soaked their pipes in bleach, seemed a little excessive TBH.

Depends on the plants you plan on planting first. It is doable as most of the plants we buy are grown emersed so you can replicate this by planting, spraying with water and sealing the tank with cling film. I've done mine the second way, trim the length I want, short for example and then remove the roots and ugly bits at the bottom, then replant the tops into the soil. Only done mine once though and wasn't really aware of any other way 👍

I used to have my diffuser under my fx6 intake, worked ok and no bubbles or noise from filter. However the fx6 has a purge function every 12 hours which released any build up of co2 anyway.

I had a similar experience with a 1200xlt, the led display stopped working, an eheim spares guy (don't remember the name) offered to replace the head unit but like you say this was at a high price.

Looking good, plenty of fast growers in that plant list should help you get a good start up.

I wouldn't say bad but was just putting a word of caution due to some conflicting reports on the Web, and that my tank was empty when I dosed.

If you have quite a few snails in the tank then when they die and you can't reach all the decaying snails then that could cause a spike.

I used gastropex when i set up my tank to eliminate baby Malaysian trumpet snails. Used when the tank was just planted and I haven't seen one as yet. If you have a few snails it's best to do a few extra water changes after the treatment course to mitigate any ammonia spikes.

I too grow raspberries, mostly for the berries granted but the shrimp are partial to the leaves I throw in. Usually stripped pretty quickly. Plant stays small too and you'll have an abundance of leaves if you remove just before yearly trimming.
