Hi Folks
My Two Pennies worth!
I had a sneaky suspicion for some years, that the amounts are insufficient for both ascorbic acid/ potassium sorbate to stop mold!
I added 1 teaspoon of each and got good results.......the problem with doing this is the solution needs to be filtered through a good...
Hi
Just purchase a piece of Silicone tubing....there are various sizes on Ebay.

Hi @Herbert
If you can remove the O ring and check for imperfections, the slightest manufacturing issue will compromise the seal.
I have used very fine Wet/Dry sand paper to remove remnants of the manufacturing process on the O ring, that with using Vaseline fixed the leak on a Eheim External...
Hi
I find that the housing and the impeller need cleaning just as much as the pipes, to keep output forceful!
You will be surprised how much gunk/crud builds up in there.
Hi
I've never owned a Fluval external filter so unsure if that would be a secure method.
Personally I would just purchase new hoses or the rubber adapter/connectors!
Have a look below on Ebay
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/192416814096
Hi Robert
Flow is king in a planted aquarium, I would go with Seachem Tidal 75......not sure what you think of the 110 to-large.
Filtration in the below journal was eventually a Seachem Tidal 75

Cheers
The Oase Biomaster 350 have 16mm/22mm hoses so you will need 16mm or 17mm pipes!
You could use 16mm but I would secure them with jubilee clips!

Yes if it is the above product!
Running a Superfish 50 on my little Mini Eclectic Tank!
Good points!
Good turnover.
Adjustable Flow rate down to a trickle.
The cover is a good fit.
The filter holder can be taken apart.
Pretty silent on full flow.
The skimmer can be removed.
Other points!
The intake pipe is clear, which will...
The impeller spins noisily but doesn't pump even a cubic centimeter of water.
Hi
Probably need a electric extension cord for power to do this.
Best do this outside or in a bathtub!
Remove the hose adapter with the hoses.
Fill the chamber with water.....test the filter runs by switching on and...
Hi
Welcome to the UKaps!
Have you filled the canister filter full of water? If not, I would do this in a washing-up bowl or bucket until the water overflows the sides, then add the pump head!
Another suggestion is to repair the leak with silicone then fill up the aquarium with water and then...
If I remember that grease was mentioned as Vaseline.
I'm not sure if it was supposed to be just used on the Double Taps.
I used it on both the pump head seal and the O rings on the taps....never had any leaks/problems!
Hi
Take the seal off....inspect it for any faults....the seal should have no nicks or remnant manufacturing material it should be smooth all around.
If it does have protruding material remove it with very fine wet/dry sanding finishing paper.
Clean the O ring/seal recess.
Use Vaseline to coat...
I assume so....but you would need to use a internal filter unless you purchase a piece of acrylic and mode it to fit around the eternal filter/hang on/hob!
Bettas I hear jump, even through small gaps, therefore its something you have to be conscious of!
Hi
Best if you purchase a filter with adjustable flow rate, there are lots out there....Dennerle Corner filter/Eheim Liberty Hob/Super Fish Hang On filter...there are obviously others!!!
Have a read at this Tutorial below regarding Co2 by Ceg/Clive...
Not a great lover of those screw hose connections, its about time they had pushfit connectors if they can do it for Household Heating and RO units dont see why these are not on a filter that is rather expensive!!!
I would agree with that above.
Check all round the gasket to see if there is any manufacturing imperfections/residue left on the gasket!
Use a very fine wet/dry decorating paper to clean up the ring up if any, then use grease as an extra precaution.
75....Will be far better for a 60 litre!!!
75 is pretty powerful.....I have one installed on a 35 Litre Denerelle Scapers Tank.!
I increase the flow to the max...every now and again, just to remove some crud on leaves and detritus....but it is like an old fashion upright washing machine...
Hi Andy
The heater fits inside the blue collar it will be a tight fit to make a good seal.
The 3 other parts are for inside an Oase Filter.....so might not fit.

Eheim hob filters!
I've got the larger Liberty 200 can't fault it!
They are a more expensive....as the build quality is quite robust!
Easy access to remove and clean the sponges...
You can add some filter floss to pick up finer detritus particles!
Hi Emma
Best if you try and fill the cannister full of water!
Remove the heater and pour some water into the heater space till it reaches near the top of the opening!
You may displace some water when replacing the heater...so have the filter on a tray with a towel underneath...some kitchen towel...
Ehiem do good quality hobs!
Iain Sutherland is running one on his Taiwan Bee journal!

If a filter starts leaking from the head!
The first inspection I do is look at the O ring around the head!
These can have small imperfections during manufacture which can cause leaks.
Very fine Wet and Dry paper can remove those!;)
Hi Babara
I think its a case of trial and error to get what you need!
A tad more expensive Oase compact 25.
Not sure this will fit in your space, claims to be nearly silent...
Have a look at the Dennerle Corner Filter!
This is adjustable regarding flow, plus it has a little spray bar.

Hi
You can switch some of the filter sponge from the running filter to the new filter, then your good to go!
Or squeeze some of the gunk "good bacteria" from the one you are using atm.....into the canister of the new filter.
I prefer the first method makes less mess of the aquarium;)
I would...
Hi....yea looks as though the Vallis is using up a lot of space and taking over that back section!
You could remove some or replace it with something else...….Rotala sp would be a choice or Didiplis diandra.
Or move the Ludwigia into that area!

Hi Diane....Did you clean the impeller/pump?
After you do this.... top up the compartment so the water is level with water in the aquarium!
Hi Kalum the 60 doesn't have a hose!

Hi Diane
I suspect the pump head needs cleaned!
Shut the pump down and remove it...take the cover off and clean the impeller!
There will be a grill "I assume" on the pump clean that also.
You may have to syphon out any muck that's at the bottom of the pump housing compartment.

Hi Tim
I purchased one...never had a problem with it, although the design could be better...cable should be routed up the back!
The sponge area is a tad small a minus point also.
Plus point, the sponge compartment is easy to remove and clean!
For the price of a couple of beers I think its well...
Purchase this small skimmer!
Even has a small guard on top.

Hi
I have Oase Filtosmart Thermo 100 filter running at the moment.
Yes it would!
You would need to purchase a set of shut off valves to attach to the in and out hoses.
This is one of the minus points of this filter....!
hoggie
Hi Jack
I would remove 50% of your filter media if its packed full if you haven't done so!
Try that and see if the temperature increases....;):nailbiting::D

Hi Rob
I am currently running the Oase FiltoSmart Thermo 100 Aquarium External Filter!
On a 40cm cube about 67 litres volume....I wouldn't say it was too powerful....once you add media this reduces the output somewhat!
hoggie
Hi
Shouldn't be a problem....attaching a UK plug would use a 3amp or a 5amp fuse though!
Germany 230 V 50 Hz C / F
Ghana 230 V 50 Hz D / G
Gibraltar 230 V 50 Hz G
Great Britain (GB) 230 V 50 Hz G

Hi Dominick
Hydor are a well know company for producing various aquatic components!
From Filters to In-line heaters!
Below is a review on the Hydor Prime 30.

What Eheim model is this filter!
Have you greased the impellor shaft with Vaseline?
If its not air getting into filter...it could be a priming issue!
Seems strange you have had the same problem with 2 different makes of filter!
hoggie
Hi
This is how the impellor should sit in the impellor chamber! (Picture below) with 2 rubber bushes at each end.
If there is excess noise there is air getting into the filter....either the O ring is damaged or not finished properly!
Or the connections to the Out/In pipes are not on properly...
