Thoughts on Blackwater Extract products . . .

Does anyone have experience or thoughts on blackwater extract products such as:

Easy Life Catappa-X
Tetra Blackwater Extract /Touramin
Aquadip Liquid Catappa
Dennerle Humin Elixir
Salty Shrimp Leaves and Bark (extract)
GlasGarten Humin+

I do add botanicals (catappa leaves, catappa bark, alder cones), but my tank layout limits how many I can reasonably add Blackwater treatment solutions, so I was thinking of supplementing with one of the above.

Also, does anyone know if I can add some of the above to a standard EI micro mix for auto-dosing?
I’ve used a few blackwater extract products, mainly Tetra Blackwater Extract and Dennerle Humin Elixir, and they work well for maintaining tannin levels without overcrowding the tank with botanicals. They help replicate natural conditions, especially for soft-water species, and can enhance fish coloration and overall health. Since you're already using botanicals but are limited in quantity, supplementing with an extract makes sense. Easy Life Catappa-X is a popular option because it provides beneficial compounds from catappa leaves without staining the water too much. As for mixing with an EI micro mix, it depends on the product’s composition. Most blackwater

I’m sure that in the five years since the question the OP has found an answer.

But thanks for providing a belated answer @jonesteave - I use Easylife Catappa-X in all my micro mixes now as standard, and I also use Microbe-Lift Bio CO2 which is a very good tinting extract.
