I just bought this from ebay a couple of days ago: 2.5Kg Fine Black Sand Aquarium Fish Tank Substrate 2.5kg | eBay And for some reason, i only just considered that the sand is most likely dyed, so it may release toxins that are harmful to shrimp in to the water? Has anyone had any experience...

I cannot think of any disadvantages, although you will obviously have to be careful not to overdose. Advantages are that you are likely to have better CO2 distribution throughout the tank (less dead spots etc).

Lily pipes arrives on Friday and I was very pleased with the outflow pipe. It also only cost £12 including postage from china. But, with my luck being my luck I opened the inflow package and it was broken :evil: have now contacted the company but I guess it will be at least another 2 weeks until...

I had that white fungus stuff on my gravel too but it has gone now after frequent water changes

A flooded meadow in Austria which apparently is an annual occurrence. It's amazing seeing a normally "open-air" landscape under the water. There are some really awesome shots in the video, 1:38-3:15 is particularly good.

Yes but it is unlikely that the plants are UK grown, so the plants coming in from places such as Thailand have to be treated with chemicals for import.

My experience with them is pretty good, plants didn't last long althought I cannot judge whether that is down to myself or the plants themselves. I know of a 10% off discount code too but I will have to find it :o

My RCS in my 60 litre have stopped breeding for some reason (I never see any females with eggs anymore). I used to have around 5 females with eggs at a time and now I have none! I thought perhaps all my females died (unlikely I know) but I have not seen any dead shrimp and I have seen females...

How would I go about removing algae from an emersed tank? Its just some sort of green sludge looking algae on top of the substrate.

Went a bit over the top on ebay (as you do) and ended up ordering pretty much the rest of everything i need... CO2 proof tubing, solenoid valve, bubble counter, clear filter tubing and the UP atomizer. Brilliant.

Also, just ordered a UP atomizer.
