I am having major trouble finding new seals for my 2073,the inside of the priming button was a little dirty which must mean the o Rings underneath it have shrunk.

I set up my 2217 today and I have to say I am really impressed with it :thumbup: It was very easy to set up and get running,great build quality,quite,strong filtering power,good flow ect and a bargain at 85 quid delivered.

I would not get a 2071 based on my experiences with my leaky 2073 unless Eheim have updated them.

I have seen a few reviews about the Classics not dropping much flow but I am not too bothered because I will be cleaning it every 2 or 3 months.

I am looking forward to setting it up,I am I right in saying the Classic keeps it flow up even when the media is clogged?

Yes,I gave it a good clean and put a line of the Eheim Vaseline around it.

Well I took my 2073 part,cleaned up all the seals,bedded them in with the Eheim Vaseline put it back together correctly and surprise surprise a big puddle of water in my cabinet :thumbdown:

I have tried cleaning up the O rings and bedding them in with some Ehiem Vaseline gel but it still leaks :crazy: I might try it again today before I chuck it on the scrap heap :lol:

My 2073 must be a lemon then. :lol:

I ordered the plus version so it comes with those valves I hope :lol:

You might want to think about a another Eheim filter because I have had nothing but bother with my 2073 and a few guys on here have had problems with the 2080 leaking ect.

No the water fills the void in the head and then leaks out of the hole where the power cable goes in :thumbdown: I put a new seal on it last time and the box is fine its just the damn head.

I have a 200 liter tank and I have an Eheim 2073,Eheim 2012,JBL 900 external filler,Hydor 1500 LPH powerhead and a New wave 3100 LPH powerhead which went in on Monday and has made a big improvement :D I was wondering if its plenty now?

Have a look at the primer system,That why mine was leaking I took it apart and put a lot of Vaseline around all the seals in the primer and its not leaked since.

I do find it concerning that the Male has started to bulk out but not as much as the female.I am going to get some meds today just to be safe.

My JBL 900 is quite quiet but its not as quite as the TetraTec EX 600 which is on the tank in the sitting room.

I would highly recommend a JBL external filter.I have had mine for 7 months not and I have not had any problems what so ever.

I think the Zeolite can leach IIRC Ammonia back into the tank when its exhausted so you might be best off with Purigen :thumbup: I have 250ml of Purigen on my 200 liter tank and it works very well.

I have got one of those JBL filters on my tank and there very good :thumbup: I have not had any problems with it.

It would be a very wise idea to run it with your UG filter :thumbup: I would say 4-6 weeks until you could run it on its own but that varies.

The hose connector that clicks in seems to be somehow stuck in IE when I push the Red Button in it will not release the hose connector and its not because I have been hard with it because I have not.I dont know why it will not release.

This filter is really good.I have no problems with it at all.I gave it a quick clean but it was not that dirty the Eheim 2073 I think dose most of the work :D The flow is still good and its silent.I am very pleased with it.

A little update the JBL is still going fine no problems at all :D

I have a Eheim 2073 and thats a great but the JBL was almost half the price but not half the filter for a start its quiter than the Eheim,Similar flow ect

Idealy injecting CO2 is best but both of those products will help.

Signs are good its growing new shoots already its only been in two days I have a few cutting of it in my 12 liter with 13 watts of light and its showing the same signs in the main 40 gallon tank too. :D

My one was fairly noisy for the first week but I knew that was the trapped air ect but now its silent.

I cleaned my 2073 out and I was amazed at how much detritus was in it and the flow had not dropped.
