Actually didn't notice that however as you might know that there are lot's of big green cryptocoryne species.

Cryptocoryne wendtii green might look better instead of C. helferi. Crypts would add some 'aged tank' effect.

Yes it was attached to inlet hose and filter worked as a reactor but I just get tired of replacing the UP's cracked body no matter if it was running on 30 psi or 10 psi so I connected my old reactor from http://www.us-aquaristikshop.com/ Flower of Cryptocoryne nurii. Hope it reaches the surface.

From my point of view is too much light for too long. Just a thought for you to consider. Can't think of anything else because it seems you are doing everything good and it just don't want to start.

If you know these things you'll definitely overcome all problems. Well I wish I could help but I do nothing special for them although I have "rule no.1" to all my tanks with soil based substrates - high oxygen levels due to surface movement no matter if I'm degassing CO2 or not. I find CO2...

GSA on Hygrophyla and looks like oedogonium on wood. You could spot treat it without any harm to shrimps. Turn off filter, apply with syringe, wait 5 minutes, turn back on the filter.

    PO4 / NO3 High Consumption

Here is the link to ADA product catalog - http://www.adana.co.jp/en/contents/support/pdf/ Check out Part1, page 50/51, figure C. Pay attention what AS does to phosphate concentration.
  62. EdwinK

    PO4 / NO3 High Consumption

NO3, typing error. You asked for a possible causes. I'm sorry but I'm not a biochemist and can't tell if it is possible or not.
  63. EdwinK

    PO4 / NO3 High Consumption

Lets assume that tests are super accurate and plants are not consuming any ferts. Then PO4 could be absorbed by AS Amazonia, NO3 by denitrification process.
  64. EdwinK

    Video - Step-by-step Aquascape

Nice video. I'm wondering how many more years it will take when Bucephalandras become an 'old' aquarium plant species :D
  65. EdwinK

    Fert and activated carbon.

Well carbon wont remove the ferts completely but it will lower concentrations of some micro elements. Here's the reference - http://www.thekrib.com/Plants/Fertilizer/keslar-carbon.html
  66. EdwinK

    Through The Red Mountain

That means 7 ppm NO3 per day is consumed. You could blame a test or a denitrification is happening somewhere. Try to measure NO3 after adding ferts.

This is how it looks today.
  68. EdwinK

    Crypt Recomendations please

I would like to help but could you please explain what do you mean by saying good/interesting? Does it mean that some species of Cryptocorynes are better/more interesting than others? And please be more specific about higher temperatures, is it 23 degrees or 33?

    "The Green Cliffs"

Liquid carbon will help but not significantly. Diatoms will disappear if you keep doing regular water changes. In combat with green algae shrimps and neritina snails would help a lot. What plant is this and is it OK for low tech?

What am i deficient in? Stem plant old leaves not doing well.

If you have a test kit for phosphates then do it. Otherwise just start adding 1 ppm and observe for a week how plants react. Change nothing else to see if that was the case.

    Dutch Variations

Update us with more info and we will try to help.
  87. EdwinK

What am i deficient in? Stem plant old leaves not doing well.

If you have Aquasoil Amazonia which tends to absorb phosphates try upping it to 1 ppm per day. On the presumption that your tap water has high nitrates and you are dosing potassium you are missing phosphates because it's a motile nutrient, and your old leaves are suffering.

We both dose lots of PO4 so it's not an issue. We are a bit off in Urea dosing.
  99. EdwinK

    337.5

I dose Urea when lights are on for an hour. Your are right about the TDS - was thinking about one thing and typing the other. Plants can take out N from Urea directly so it is a big question how much of NH4 is left and then converted to NO2.
