From what Ive found out the bending isnt very difficult the problem is not ruining the finish on the stainless steel if you ruin it its near impossible to get back

Ive been looking into making my own for my latest tank, a bending spring is never going to work with stainless steel its just to hard, the plumbers benders would work but not many are able to do 180 degree bends and the ones that can have a large internal radius so the gap between the 2 pipes...

What are you using as a gas bottle ? Fire extinguisher ? Is both the cylinder and regulator the same fitting ? Have you tried turning the washer around ?

Theres plenty of m8 x 1.0 but the smallest barb I can find is 1/4 approx 6mm

Hello and welcome to the forum, I wouldnt worry about your hard water theres plenty of us thay have hard water myself included, the only headache I have noticed is the limescale around the water line but plants dont seem to mind it at all, im still a newbie in the planted tank world and others...

the main faces only need a very light sand but the edges need alot of attention give them a sand then prime, when dry sand again then prime again keep doing this until there super smooth, the edges are where you need to spend all your time, the smoother you can get them the better the end...

I agree with andy, im not convinced by drop checkers at all I use mine only as a rough guide, I think having it near the substrate is to give an indication of whether or not your co2 is getting down low enough, by far the best indication is the plants, if your low / carpet plants are growing...
