Both the Kids tell me that I have too many houseplants and I don't have room for anymore.
I personally disagree and can see plenty of room, obviously photos are now a bit old as everything is tinselled and tacky at the moment

I must get some photos of the classroom for your amusement, he has a Devil's Ivy - Epipremnum aureum - growing on a trellis across two walls. In my experience, even for the really dark jungle loving pants plants a low wattage full spectrum grow light and a bit of mist makes a big difference to winter sickness, and a good tomato feed in the Spring. This thread is taking on a really joyful feel.

A glass cupboard with lights, mister and plants is definitely on my to do list now, the wife is going to try kill me but my son will protect me since he is even more of an indoor plant nutter than I am. There were two or three great eccentrics with indoor plant collections on Gardener's World in the last two or three series - I lose track but some were awesome collections even if a little impractical to maintain. The bloke in the old London horse tram shed with his concrete floor and traditional skylight lanterns certainly won the practicality stakes. Water pouring everywhere, not an issue.

Hi Hoggie,
With the Monstera I actually used an Orchid potting mix. Roughly 2-3 litres of water every 2 weeks, sometimes from the tap, sometimes the tank 😁.

Remarkably tidy/compact large Monstera, good tip ref. orchid compost which I will now try, I have never managed to keep Dieffenbachia for a year or so without die-back - seriously impressed.

A bit of a strange one, I have no idea where it came from, but it has now flowered and turned out to be <"Veltheimia capensis">.

Just spotted this thread, some of my houseplants in my 'office' room, looking forward to the spring when everything starts to flourish and grow again... But also have to water weekly. Got three vivs too which have more anthuriums and small orchids etc.

The unusual flower on my Hibiscus schitzopetalus. It isn’t a showy plant but the flowers are fascinating.

Proof that Manchester is in fact, subtropical...
Saw a flower on my succulent today and thought I'd jump on here, although it doesn't compare to Ben's office. Please ignore the yellow leaf on the monstera (Manchester has only been subtropical for a couple of weeks), and admire the very decrepit rescue cactus that went through the wars with its previous owner.
Edit: I'm also attempting to grow trailing cucumbers for my plot in the neighbours garden, it's the second year in a row. Wish me luck 🤞
