QT and grow on. Have two fish in the QT grow on . The showa koi is in there now a week. Had a bit of finrot. And a ulcer. Knocked him out last week trimmed his dorsil fin and flipper fins with scissor s. Then put diluted paste PP on the ends. Treat his ulcer with antibac. Powder and seal. Then cranked the heat up to 25c. Also put salt in tank to help healing at 0.03 coming along nicely.

Chagoi is fixed and back in the pond.
My big showas ulcer is just about repaired in QT. Give him another two weeks. I could nt stop it eating away at him. So i went to extremes. And gave him a 10 minute bath in pp. Then the next week a 5 minute bath. Then salt bathed him at 0.3 then next day upped it to 0.6 salt in my Qt. Been like that all the time. Its worked as he has white skinned over. You should nt pp koi but had no choice. He would have died.

If you blow photos up you can see the wound.
And the white one had finrot and mouth rot. Trimmed the fins. Then coated with diluted pp. 1/4 teaspoon full to half a cup of water. Thed syringed some into mouth. Fully healed now. Also been in 0.6 salt in QT.

decided to clean pond out with pressure gun last week. as i had the dreaded black algi. it has like an oiy substance to it.
After using cba once. And resolve. Decided to have a proper go of getting rid of the black slimey stuff. Phormidium or Black Slimey Algae ... is actually a Cyanobacteria.
Fish all came out the pond wash gun came out. Fish eye balled and scrutinised.
Scrubbed and pressure washed down. only way to get rid is lots of light and lots of air. chemicals will not touch it.

upper pond filled cascading into lower pond

that was during the 10 days now my green algi has come back. i am glad to say no black algi
its the reverse of green algi. green needs light this needs shade. so put loads of light plus lots of air.
i read up on it from people who have defeated this.. it burns. one person put it on her lawn to get rid next day
removed it and the grass was dead. also two of the people came out with burn like rashes. forrible stuff.
i think this might have had something to do with my fish fin rot and mouth rot. it aint come back.so fingers crossed
all the best fred

There's a lot of work there Fred. Looks like you had nice weather for it and fingers crossed it does the job. Still gave you a good chance to check them all over closely.

Hello mort. Yeah mate. They reckon it comes back fuzzy black and not green. Mine is all fuzzy green again so cracked it. Like you say there all checked over now. Just a couple with mild finrot. I will sort them when the other couple in the qt are back in the pond. Take care mort . Fred.

To heal them took about six pp dips over a 6 week period in my QT. Also with 0.6 % salt. Heat 25c .Both had bad finrot. A nd showa had 2x massive ulcers. Took time but got there in the end. Had to bring heat down to equalise with the pond.
