All That Remains - Take II

The Male is Still shifting the sand around and adding More empty snail shells. Never seen this behaviour with a Convict Species.
The Eyes n the Dorsal are most definitely the females. She has gone very very dark black/green and the eyes on the dorsal are extremely bright.

Female Con still keeping the area clean, Male still add more snail shells. and she moves them away.

Sadly ive had to euthanise a couple of the female Pearls, They were egg bound and their eyes were clouded over. No amount of peas, baths or trying to get the males to build nests helped. and they were looking like Pearlscale Goldies. x1 male did go off on its own and had built a nest, but females Wouldnt/Couldnt release eggs.

If anyone has an abundance of snails i would greatly appreciate some.
Ramshorn/snail farm in the garden is not producing many atm. Murder Beans arent looking as plump as they should be

Something is discharging current into the water. Only happened after maintenance and water change this afternoon. felt a little sting after water change while scrubbing the glass.
Im hoping thats its just the Hidom Internal, as I have a spare for that.

You haven't got a PH meter or wavemaker, do you?

Strange turn of events. All of the Rainbow cichlids x4 have disappeared, Noticed had not seen them yesterday.
No remains, no bloated decomposing remains, no smell, nothing, just gone. checked all around the back of the tank and no dried up remains either.

Eh?! They are quite big fish as adults - but I assume yours are younger?

Very odd - all four and no evidence.

Yeah mine are about 4 inches last time i saw them. The Yellow cons have taken over their cave under the main piece of wood.
Which they would not do if the rainbows were still in there.

I'm not going to tear the tank apart to look for them

Ive seen the Rainbows once over the last week or so. But only at 3am when letting the dog out for a wee. So they are still in there thankfully.
Ive not posted any pix for a while as battling alot of algae, Some of it i like as its covering all the wood. but is has killed of most of the bolbitis and moss. So have removed all thats dead in the tank this morning.

Question, I know that the flagtails will eventually get to around 30cm each.
And should be ok long-term in this scape. Lovely fish, great algae eaters and grazers. Do like to just hover in a few spots in the tank. And dad likes to watch them and notes how big they are getting. so they keep his interest.
Anyone ever kept this before, as they are boisterous when its feeding time and do like to splash around at the surface. The dog finds this annoying and sniffs at the water they chuck out the tank.

The guppy grass has had a bit of a crash for the last 2 weeks and is not growing as fast as it normally does, so the shrimps have taken a hit. as fish find their way into the less dense areas. Platties still use this as a birthing are and nursery for the fry.
Murder Beans are still doing well and see them flitting about searching for snails etc.
Not seen the ropes much of late though, so hope they are still around.
Removed a few of the Larger Skulls to give more room to the rainbows amongst the hardscaping.

Tempted to have a bit of a rescape, but the wood is soo large, it will tear everything up if i try to move it.

In a moment of madness ive ripped out as much of the guppy grass as possible while still leaving the shrimp corner alone. It had been obscuring the biggest skull.
The tank really needs a rescape and replanting of some fast stems etc. So i need to start planning that.
The twisted vallis continues to spread in the foreground which i dont mind tbh.

Done a bit of a change around.
Took out more guppy grass. And moved the hardscape around a slight amount to open up areas.
Moved some of the vallis from background to midground. And gathered all the java fern into one area.
Found that some of the Buce is still there from the shrimp nano, Which was nice.
Replaced some airline tubing and air stones in the UGF uplifts.
Was going to do more, but back ended that. So filled back up and left to settle.

One thing I realised is that the inlet for the Tidal hob. Was in the gravel, so was acting as another UGF. So shortened that, Need to put a refilter on it the inlet.
