Get some Theodoxus if you like nerites but don't like their eggs. Win win.

The leaves are healthy, but your frogbit roots are being eaten. You added a new partially or fully vegetarian fish like a Serevum and it is eating the roots. Theodoxus Fluviatilis nerite eggs rapidly disappear and do not mess up scapes. These are the ones that successfully breed in freshwater. I would get those.

Don't think this would work for aquariums because if you epoxy coat dry wood it will look unnaturally shiny and will almost certainly float!

Good point. It's been in its present location for over 4 years. One thing it could be is that the table it's on is not 100% level. The water level is about 1cm higher towards the front. It also seems like the leak came from the front as well.

The leak is definitely somewhere on the bottom pane. I think the front right corner - where the curved front pane meets the flat bottom.

Embers do not view babaulti shrimp or gammarus as food. Also I have never seen Embers even peck at the decor - let alone a possible baby shrimp invisible to the eye.

If you want multi-coloured shrimp get babaulti - I have greens, reds, and yellows and they never mix and fade.

I think it is established that most gas exchange takes place at the surface - so whatever is moving the surface of the water more is going to produce the most gas exchange. Therefore it will depend on which particular set-up you utilise breaks the surface tension and circulates water the most...

I tried keeping freshwater nerites (Theodoxus Fluviatilis) initially in ph 6.5-ish water, but the pitting in the shells from the acid water eventually kills them (takes a couple months). When I raised the Ph over 7 they stopped dying and started breeding.

Yes lots of people hoover sand. But you could only clean the surface if you dont want to disturb the soil underneath. My favourite trick is to use cories with sand to fling muck into the water column where the filter can grab it. They keep my sand crystal.

I find that the risk of catastrophe is too great to allow house-sitters to do anything to tanks. Even 'fishkeepers' are too risky and I would only trust tried and true experts. Everyone else should be instructed not to do anything to the tank and feed nothing. Healthy fish can survive 2-3 weeks...

Tank dimensions are 76cm (L) X 47cm (W) X 53.5cm(H) Tank comes with 2x13w T5s - dont have much experience with T5s. Planning on growing mosses, ferns, red lotus, anubias, and maybe some ranalisma rostrata in the foreground. Cheers for the help.
