thanks for the reply, yes i am using tap water but couldnt tell you if its treated with chloramine or not, also occured to me that im using to much seachems prime on water changes which might be causing the cycle problems will just have to keep an eye on afew things till i find out whats wrong.
Keep getting random nitrite spikes on my 50L planted which keeps killing my shrimp, the tank has 3x8w t5's co2 at lime green and i dose 5ml of tpn + every day, so my question is can a lack of nitrate in the tpn+ be causing my plants to consume the nitrate which is there to remove nitrite's which...
haha i wont be leaving them in the pots just wanted to plant the lot together so i can sort the scape i want, take it i need to add ferts and co2 as normal asoon as they go in
Ordered some potted plants from the green machine and some from aqua essentials but the aqua essentials order is out of stock till next week and i wanted to plant the lot together so can the plants from green machine (which will be here tomorrow) be left in there pots and placed in the tank till...

Just set up my nano tank which has cal aqua nano lily pipes and will be setting up my rio 125 in the next few weeks which will also have lily pipes, what do people use to protect there shrimp being sucked in or do you just check your filter every week along with the water changes ?

this is the third one i have removed in the past 3/4 weeks so im not infested with them so far touch wood, thanks for the replys ill keep removing them when i see them.
Keep finding the odd one of these snails in my tank dont no if they have came from one of the new plants i have bought or from my nerite snails any ideas, is it a pest snail ?
i think the red plant at the back is Rotala rotundifolia, lovely looking tank set up its giving me some great idea's for my new tank setup well done :thumbup:
Any one tried growing this plant in a plant pot on there window sill, is it possible and does it grow any quicker ?

Got one of these back ground on my rio 125 and want to remove it so i can spray paint the glass black, what are the chances of removing all the background and silicon etc so the glass looks spotless for painting, dont want to remove it then be left with a scabby looking piece of glass, any tips...
thats good on the wcmm front, they are lovely fish got 12 in my nano upstairs you have seen and they love it swimming inbetween the rocks and flairing the fins at each other its good to watch :thumbup:

what plant is it growing on the most, i had one plant in my downstairs tank that was full of bba which seemed to be giving it to every other plant in the tank, from what i remember it was Alternanthera reineckii might be wrong but anyways removed that plant and and the other affected leaves from...

Ordered some staurogyne sp from the green machine and i dont think i have planted it properly as most of the larger leaves are dieing and falling off, its been planted for about 3 days now it came potted but was quite large in height so i planted it by trimming the tops off the plants and...
I use to get alot of bba in my larger tank and found it to be because i was making to many adjustments to my co2, when i found the right co2 balance i left the tank for afew weeks and the bba stopped growing, i no you have just set up your new nano so it might be worth letting the tank settle...
Just a quick question (might be a daft one) got a dd C02 set which came with the adaptor for a fire extinguisher and just wanted to make sure that all 2kg co2 fire extinguishers are the same fitting and the co2 gas is all the same etc. cheers
when that happen to me i removed the fish into a bucket of water and done a large water change on the tank to remove some of the co2 and put more oxygen back into the water then put the fish back in and left the co2 of until it had dropped back down again. Thats what worked for me. good luck
dont no about anyones else but mine seem very inactive and stay in the same spot most of the time, are mine just lazy or is there something i should be checking.
did you buy your rotala sp green from the green machine adam, i am assuming it comes potted so whats the best way to plant it single stems or plant the whole plant ?
ordered mine today along with some Staurogyne sp and Pogostemon Helferi to get my tank started.
Ordered a boyo one for mine it fits tanks from 35.6cm to 45.7cm with a maximum glass thickness of 12mm, you can also request 3 white t5 bulbs instead of 2 white and one blue, it takes awhile for it to be delivered mines 3 weeks this week and im still waiting
got a 49 liter interpet fishbox and i have removed the old plastic lid which held in the lights so i can replace it with a luminaire, filled it up today and i am now worried the baby will throw something into the tank as its on my desk so was going to place a piece of clear plastic perspex over...
haha was just going to say aqua essentials told me they would have some in the begining of november if i remember right, how have you got the pump set up at the minute spray bar ?

ahh ok thanks for the reply, any suggestions on lighting will be planted with Hemianthus callitrichoides, Pogostemon helferi, Staurogyne sp, and possibly some sort of red stem plant will be dosing easycarbo dosing at the start probably moving onto co2 depending on growth rate. cheers steve

are you using a spray bar or lily pipe on the other end, just wondering as im thinnking of swapping my spray bar for a lily pipe and wondered which would work better using your method

thanks for the reply, the bottom drop checker was always lighter in colour but they are both different makes which might make a difference and the power head is always pointing towards the bottom opposite corner so thats ok, i will move one of the dc's to the other side of the tank also but what...
I have read loads of guides and been using co2 for the past 2 months or so but been reading afew different posts which bring up points that arnt mentioned in guides and i need help as i nearly overdosed my fish with co2 yesterday, not very good at writing posts so please bare with me :wink...
