What's this fern?

Bought this from a garden centre, helpfully described as a fern. The leaf shape seems reminiscent of windolov's irregularity. Any ideas?

Some kind of Pteris cretica maybe? The cultivars 'Mayii' and 'Roeweri' looks quite similar to yours.

I'm <"pretty sure that is right">. Probably not entirely hardy.

Darrel, you read my mind. I meant to ask how best not to kill it? Is it a moisture loving fern?

They often grow out of <"rock walls">. Cool, shady and damp, but not too wet? If it is Pteris cretica it is a lime-lover, I'm not sure about the other species, it is quite a big genus.

Have a look at <"The sails">.

After a bit image comparing I'm pretty sure it's pteris cretica mayii. Thanks for the useful info and links. Now I've just got to brake my habit of inconsistent watering...

I had one a long while back. I kept it in a pot sat on a tray filled with wet gravel along with two other different ferns placed on a north facing window ledge. It seemed to like the humidity, and as far as I can remember it wasn't particularly demanding. And yes it's a house plant.
