Hello
Some pics of my little UG shallow. First, a theory:
Every aquarist has a plant that simply despises them and will die regardless of what they do, as well as a plant that they cannot go wrong with.
Pogostemon Helferi will die if I simply think about putting it in my tank.
Fortunately Utricalaria Graminifolia is my can-do-no-wrong plant. So I decided to experiment a bit with it.
Here are the deets:
WIO 36SF Shallow
No filter
No heater
Depleted ADA Amazonia from an old tank
Elephant stone
No fertilisers but baby Brine shrimp feeding monthly (for the UG)
Chihiros Slim WRGB30 on full power
No water changes, only top ups with cooled kettle water.
6 Sunkist shrimp
Okay - there’s more to the water changes. My cats and evaporation account for a good 250-500ml of water lost daily.
It has been running a few months now - with no real issues other than a bit of Cyanobacteria at the very beginning.
A final pic to show how it started (I realized I forgot to create height and filled the back subsequent to this picture).
Cheers
