Songs from the Man Cave!

Is it a song? I think it is and it is beautiful... Anyway, this is a Lord of the Rings scene translated into 'Eald Englisc' a 'Late West Saxon dialect' your UK ancestors did speak and write about 1000 years ago.

Since I'm an English-speaking Dutchman of German ancestry do speak and read all these Western Germanic from the Saxon-descended languages.
Spoken back then in the coloured areas on this map.

Every time again I'm stunned by the similarities that still survived till this day, then imagine the early west Saxon dialect 500 years younger before the vowel shifts were even more similar.

This is a reconstruction of an Old Dutch Saxon/Francish dialect spoken 1000 years ago. At this time there was regular merchant interaction as said "Biwilon komunt Anglas oftho Bretwalas van Anglande" (By While Come Anglas of the Bretwalas van Anglande)
