I had 3 hillstream loaches in my 6 month old tank. Everything seem to gone well, until now, one of those fishes disappeared, I cannot see her that tank for 4 days, so presumed dead. It's a very dense jungle so nearly impossible to detected a dead fish. What I realized was the color of my those Hillstream loaches turned bit darling, before one of them disappeared. What could be the reason? I would rule out the possibility of malnutrition, because I feed the variety of food

1. Algae Palets
2. Sinking Pallets with garlic flavor
3. Brine shrimp pills.

So do you think they are have some kind of deficiency. These fishes are in my tank since November.

so 27C - far too hot for them. They also need very highly oxygenated water, which at that temperature is unlikely to be the case.
I am using Eheim Classic 250 with that 45p tank which seems to be an overkill thus providing sufficient oxygen this sized tank. Using ice cube every 24 hours will do the trick?

Hi all,

Have you read <"Keeping your aquarium cool during summer">?

That is your problem.
As you can see at 30 oC (86 oF) you only have ~ 7.5 mg / l O2 and that may not be enough.

I will buy a circulation pump or a powerhead to increase surface agitation. If that helps with increasing the flow of oxygen. They are my favorite fish and the summer is worse during May till July
In your own thread you asked for advice about keeping an aquarium cool. There, you were given advice about using a chiller or a fan. Increasing circulation isn’t going to cool the tank, and without cooler water, it won’t hold more oxygen.

Ok I will buy a fan and will put some ice cubes every morning. Eventually I am going to move this tank in my bedroom which is cool under the air conditioner

Use a few lemonade plastic bottles......3/4 fill them with water freeze them, then float them on the surface when frozen.
