Not the greatest pic because we gave it a wide berth, unfortunately not everyone does. They have been battered by the storms this year and we saw quite a few that hadn't made it, and a few, like this one, that were exhausted.
They are about labrador size at this age.

That's very sad. Is there any local wildlife rescue that can deal with these?

I think there are ,the centrs build them up, give them antibiotics if needed, but of what l understand like a lot of rescue centres they are overwhelmed and do what they can where they can, often they are full to capacity and rely on donations ,which understandably is a struggle

There are some excellent volunteer groups funded by donations but as Paraguay mentions, they are normally very full. In the case of these, they normally live on the sand banks offshore but have been blown onshore by the recent storms. They should be ok after resting up and the volunteers only intervene if they are obviously injured (many have their heads wrapped in fishing line/plastic) or sick. The dead ones are never collected, just recycled by the ecosystem.
The main problem is people who get to close, some through ignorance wanting a selfie and some through kindness not knowing they are simply knackered and having a rest.

I'm fond of them after swimming with some off the Great Orme in North Wales and they were very gentle in the water but I wouldn't want to have to catch an adult on land.
