Hello again.
I'm from a little town called Leigh and looking at places to visit, I know of our own Amazon Aquatics, also know of Pier in Wigan, CMC ( not visited though ) Urmston, same again haven't been. What are your recommendations on where to go, any secret places and gems I haven't heard about.

Bit more of a distance, but <"Premier Aquatics"> in Runcorn and <"Aqualife Leyland"> next junction off the M6 after the "Charnock Richard" services?

Cheers Darrel

Just to echo what Darrel said, I drove a very long way from Scotland to collect a custom tank from Premier Aquatics yesterday, tank is exceptionally built and the staff couldn't have been nicer. Some really interesting fish, many of which I'd never seen in person before. Wish they were on my doorstep!

Might be a bit too far for ya, but abyss aquatics in Stockport are my go to 🙂

Watching with interest! Got to say - unless I'm missing one of those hidden gems, because, well . . . it's hidden! - I've found absolutely nothing worth bothering with around the Leeds - Bradford area. Lancastrians seem spoilt for choice by comparison.

HD1 Aquatics in Huddersfield is a bit of a stand out as it's run by a knowledgeable bloke, but when I visited was suprisingly poorly stocked. Though i did appreciate hugely that they don't run everything off a massive UV sump but filter the tanks indivdually.

I'm also intrigued by Sustainable Aquatics in Rotherham, but haven't visited as yet. I like what they say about sustainability, but whether it's sincere or greenwash you can't tell from a website.

I've not been but I did consider getting livestock from aquaheaven in Leeds - good prices for some species (particularly rasbora & pygmy Corys) but I can't comment on quality of care.

Thanks everyone, Premier Aquatics isn't that far, 17 miles. And Stockport isn't that far neither, just a pig getting there with the traffic

Don't know if it's too far/trafficky for you again @davdandy, but I've just had a look at the fish room in poynton and I think I'll be going for a visit..

Aquaheaven is an odd place - it's basically a detached shed/garage filled with tanks. Because it's right next to a family home you have to call ahead, which is fair enough. When I visited a year or so ago I got the distinct impression I was interrupting something and he seemed quite keen for me to be gone. Not rude, not exactly unfriendly, just 'better things to do' kinda vibe. Personally a big part of going to an aquatics shop for me is to have a relaxed mooch around and maybe a natter so Aquaheaven's probably not somewhere I'd go again unless I knew exactly what I wanted and was essentially there to collect some fish I'd pre-ordered. Their prices were very good though.

I've not been in years as I seem to be moving closer and closer to the Lancastrian border but are Paws for Thoughts still on York Road in Leeds? Before Covid and lockdown they supplied me with my Trio of Dwarf Lionfish as well as Corals etc

I was always impressed by the amount of Freshwater displays they had at the time

Update.
CMC aquatics appear to be closing down (fish stock ) but selling dry goods,so avoid that one. Urmston and Premier both very good. Pier in Wigan has always been a great shop for me, as is Amazon Aquatics in my home town.
Fishcove in Warrington was a disgrace,i spent about four minutes in there then walked out, total rubbish.
Still not tried the Stockport ones yet.
