Hey everyone,

Long time fish keeper and long time lurker as I have been tinkering with the idea of a planted tank for a couple of years.

My previous setup was a single species mbuna tank, I had a colony of Saulosi cichlids. I've attached some photos.

I've finally bit the bullet and moved to the planted side.

I'm looking forward to soaking up all the knowledge from the members here.

A new post to follow with the new setup 😁

Hi all,
Welcome to UKAPS.

Very nice. How did your two males get on?

I've <"never kept Rift Lake cichlids">, but their types of tank get a mention sometimes in <"threads on cycling"> and this one really was the <"Mbuna scenario">.

cheers Darrel
This particular species are generally on the lower end of aggression when it comes to mbuna so the males only had arguments when a young was feeling brave and challenging the alpha.

I never had any deaths due to aggression which was nice.

I did have an all male peacock tank as well and that was tough to get the balance right, there was a lot of fighting in that set up.

We have two under two at home, the house is chaos, I just want peace and serenity now 🤣
