help! with glossotigma

this tank was close down last year. lights was 2x 39w t5. you can see i had many problems and after many issues i had too much flow so i took the waver makers out. at the end it grew horizontally in a few days after i found out was wrong. glosso need to have co2 around the substrate so try the spray bar pointing up a bit so it give you a ripple affect. That what work for me
 
Maybe when I planted them I didn't have enough light, but a week ago I doubled the lighting from 20% to 40% so I'm sure they're getting more than enough.

Do I have to trim them to kick start the horizontal growth, or does this just happen on it's own?
