Hi , just started a tank (70 l Juwel) and have found it all very interesting. I am a beginner, but actually got the bug as a boy when I kept 4 tanks in our 2 up 2 down (in Bolton Gt. Manchester) with 3 other kids and despairing mother! Sold the tanks when I went to university -that was in 1975!
The biggest difference apart from the modular design of everything is this whole business of "cycling" - clearly a lot more sophisticated nowadays
Hugely inspired by aquascaping too, but not sure if my skills are up to that!

Welcome to the forum. The main difference will be the wealth of knowledge available, back in the day the pet shop would rather sell you a medicine than treat the cause. Cycling isn't a new thing, in fact it's been going on since the beginning of time It's a good thing that these boards exist so people of similar interests can share their experiences and enjoy the hobby more.

Hi all,

Sold the tanks when I went to university -that was in 1975!

Same for me, started fish keeping in the 1970's, gave up when I went to university and only took it up again about 10 years ago.
