Crypt holes

I've been tinkering and replanting my rio 125 recently unfortunately a couple of my more mature crypts have lost a few leaves through melting I assume this is because I've disturbed them and maybe damaged a odd leave here and there I've removed the melting leaves but do I leave the stem or cut it back ? Will the stem regrow a new leaf or is it game over for that stem ?
 
Please review the previous posts. If your crypts lose their leaves then they are telling you that you have poor CO2. The lance will not grow a new leaf and should be removed. New leaves will only appear with new lances.
