New here and new to the planted scene, Just a little light help please?

I was the same before i joined here :) whether to get one or two really is up to you, some people have spent a long time mixing and matching tube colours to get a look that suits them, I've not experimented to the same amount as 6500k to me just looks right, so I'd say yes buy 2 of the 6500k and...

New here and new to the planted scene, Just a little light help please?

They will work just fine, I was going to link you to them as there the cheapest I've found , A lot of people get caught in the tube trap the truth is that the plants don't care about the tube at all, all the tubes with names like plant gro etc etc are to catch the aquarist and make them spend...

New here and new to the planted scene, Just a little light help please?

You can use any tubes you want to, there's no such thing as tubes you have to use, just measure the length of your tubes and get some replacements, different bulbs come in different colour temperature my personal preference is 6500 k hth mark

    48w t5s over 125l will I need co2?

For low tech one 24 watt is about perfect :)
  9. sa80mark

    48w t5s over 125l will I need co2?

A quick simple way to reduce the lighting is to put a reflector on one of the tube but put it on upside down so it reflects the light upwards :)
  10. sa80mark

    Can i use this T5....

You can use any bulb you want to, plants really don't care, 6500k is my preferred spectrum as I prefer the look it gives :)

    Ada 60p lighting options

Oh is that what it was, I seem to remember when tgm were sponsors there was a thread on there page about them
  22. sa80mark

    Ada 60p lighting options

The 600 are said to be brighter yes, there is a member on here (I cant remember who :( ) ran 2 500's on a similar size tank if I remember right and they were far to bright so yes 2 600's will be more than enough
  23. sa80mark

    Ada 60p lighting options

If it were me I would go for 2 grobeam 600 with controller these will give good spread and offer more than enough light
  24. sa80mark

    Ada 60p lighting options

Theres a few shops in germany that sell them and I might be wrong but I believe they are only available in 110volt so you would also need a transformer to power one in the uk

    Juwel Rio 240l lighting

2 x 54w with reflectors is more than enough light it may even turn out to be to much, one thing ive learnt from this forum is that lighting is not the key to a successful tank, pretty much all plants will grow in a lot less light than we think by far the most important things are ferts and co2...

    LED penetration

Im only just starting to read up on leds but I think im right to say that the depth they can get down to is dependent on the lenses used, for instance a 40 degree lense will punch more light further down than a 120 degree lense

    Too little light?

Plants liquid carbon will melt (complete list) Heres a link to where I saw about wisteria as I said I dont know if this is the cause though
  32. sa80mark

    Too little light?

My guess would be that the light is not the issue, the only reason I say this is ive got a dennerle 30l cube which is pretty much the same dimensions as yours and mine runs a 11watt light and im 100% convinced its a bit to bright, I have no doubt at all that a 9watt would be more suited to my...

Mini 400 tile or 1500 tile

I agree with Christian the mini on its own wont be much use, mounted 6 inch above the tank they have approx 14 inch spread so you would probably be left with dark edges in the tank another light to consider if your set on tmc would be a single grobeam 600 these are 45cm long, and would be a...

Opinions on this led unit please

Ive seen someone on an American planted tank site using one I think it was the 50cm version if you type into google boyu led 03-60 theres lots of links to marine tanks using these so my guess would be colour wise it probably leans more towards marine type spectrums, not very helpful I know sorry tim

  43. sa80mark

    TMC Growbeam Ultima Twin

If your on about the grobeam 500 or 600 there 45cm long so I think if you were to mount them side by side 90cm long then you would get the coverage you want if mounting front and back then they would need to hung quite high to get full coverage

grobeam 600 on an ada 60p

Yes the 60p is 60x30x36 cm I will be having the lighting suspended on the tmc rail I am open to the idea of the tiles originally I was looking at 2 tmc mini 400 tiles but leaned towards the grobeams as with thw leds being in a line 45 cm long I thought it might offer a better more even spread on...

tmc 400 led will they work for me

Hi jerry thank you for that, just what I was hoping to hear with the Anubias and shrimp from what ive read on various forums is that this seems to a bit of a myth to some extent. The two main things ive found is that when Anubias is trimed It releases oxalix acid which a few people believe lead...
