Hi guys I grabbed this out my supplies the other day and realised I must have overtightened one of the plastic co2 tubing screws. Any one know where I can get some metal replacement ones to fit.
What about these Fluval Plant Bars that are about £229. They any good for a Juwel or are there better Chinese ones I should be looking for?

Hey guys I haven't been on for a while but the hobby has still not left me even after 20+ years.
I have just had a second Juwel Helialux Spectrum fail on me by taking in water and moisture to the point it's rotten. I'm deeming these unsafe and far too costly to replace for a third time so I'm...
So as I can't travel anywhere I ended up buying 25KG of "Ancient Rock".
I have spent today rehousing the fish from the Juwel Rio 180 and draining it down and removing it's molar clay substrate.
I have since put three 8KG bags of fluval stratum in and.... It's nowhere near enough! I've ordered...
I've put the peat Balls to the back where the substrate would be most dense.
Used three 8KG bags in a Juwel Rio 180 and it's nowhere near enough. Just ordered another two bags on prime for tomorrow.
Fish will have to sleep over in their temp home.
Thanks for the reply [emoji1360]

Hi I'm about to put three bags of Fluval Stratum in my tank and I wondered if it's worth putting peat Balls in first as I have a few bags of them.
Are they worth it or do they just create mess later on.

Very glad to hear things are taking shape with the tank. Subsequently off the back of your praise I have just ordered three bags of fluval stratum. Also ordered 25KG of Ancient stone so hopefully I can Scape something decent [emoji1694].
Best of luck Wizza... I will be following the thread...
Surely this is being caused by light either too long of a period or too much exposed natural light from a window.
I used to get this on one side of my tank that was closest to the window. The next time I did a big overhaul I replaced the background with black vinyl wrap and put it on the side...
Ive seen some videos showing cheap tights filled with substrate used in areas where you want to create a banking. Not sure how well that method works over time.
I'm sure the plastic cutout method would fail over time and would reveal itself on the surface.

Thanks for clarifying Mort I think some folk thought I was on a company sabotage or something. All good with their website now folks get your orders in [emoji38].

No good shout and think I've used them in the past. Will give it a try.
Hey folks what colour stone would you put with Fluval Stratum out of interest [emoji848]

Yeh it appears to be back up now. I'm guessing there is a plant shortage as every site I've been on says Out Of Stock on the plants.

Swell appear to have "Gui Ying Stones 20kg Box " £46.99 which looks on the image like Seiryu but again not sure if it's just another trade name [emoji848].

So you used rocks to create the height. I thought I saw someone use plastic inserts somewhere. Might have been a GreenMachine Video back in the day [emoji848]

Complete Aquatics have "Grey Pillar Rock Per 1KG"
£2.98 per 1KG
Wondering if that's just another trade name for seiryu.

Horizon don't appear to have any currently online and aquarium gardens doesn't load I'm guessing they have taken the site down during Covid.

Hi guys and gals, I'm about to pull the trigger on 3 x bags of fluval stratum 8 kg. I was wondering how you add the element of depth by doing shallow substrate at the front and deeper substrate at the back. Everytime I've done this with my Molar Clay (Kitty Litter) it's ended up leveling out...
Hi all, I have a Furlough week this week so have some time at home for a change. Instead of wondering what to do I thought I'd do a rescale on my tank. I have a Rio 180 and I am keen to remove my molar clay substrate and try something new which is what lead me here.
Is anyone here good enough...
Yes controller is also required so I've had to buy the new model light and controller. Now selling my Helialux 1000 on eBay as well as it's Day/Night controller. Much prefer this newer model as controlling it from your mobile is a breeze.
I recently gutted the tank and removed a lot of rock...
I have similar issues using the Helialux to the point it feels like I'm constantly fighting the diatom bloom. I have just.ordered a Helialux Spectrum and hopefully that is easier to control. Your lighting is like mine. Dark with a blue hue all through the day then comes on in the evening for...
I have a Helialux Spectrum 1000 now but no controller for it. Still running on my Helialux 1000 with the standard Day/Night controller until I can get my hands on one at a good price.
Looking at the JBL it's the same heater as the Chinese one which is similar to the Hydor. Any bets the Chinese firm makes them for JBL/Hydor or whoever the buyer. They even use the same plastic mould for the heater housing. The only one I can see that looks different is the ISTA one.
Still...
I have had issues with these heater also. My first one was probably 4years old when it overheated at night and left me with fish soup killing 99% of my livestock. I had about 12 Gold Laser Cory's which died first as they had less oxygen at the bottom. The cost of them alone to me was more than...
Hi, I was just wondering if there was much notable difference with the newer Spectrum lighting you got. I have the Helialux 1000 and was wondering if it was worth upgrading to the Spectrum model. The upgrade would be another £250-300 to shell out.
Hi all haven't used Co2 for about two-year years so was wanting to know what the best internal Co2 diffuser currently is as of 2019. I still have my Bazooka and the cheaper green Chinese model which was prone to leaking from the glue seals.
Any advise welcome.
Cheers

Got to this post after being amazed at the same video from aquarium co op. Has anyone found a well presented co2 chamber like the tropica one but a bit larger as I was going to try this on my 180L Rio that has no Co2 currently and do before and after.
Hi all haven't been on here for about three years (going by the age of my child). I setup my Juwel 180L using bonsai molar clay and still have it running on it. Looking to rescape the tank in the next few weeks and wondered if there was anything better I should be using now.
Plant grown on this...
Bought a 5L from Bonnymans on Amazon back in November and still haven't mixed up a batch. Will mix one up this weekend by the calculation of ...
75ml 50% Glut
2425ml RO DI
Do we know what Chelated iron he uses and what %? This sounds like the missing peice from everyone's Glut mixes.
The bottle on the video does say on the front but it's too small and blurry to read.
What's your thoughts?
Struggling to get my Lilly's to gain hight they used to grow tall and like crazy when I had the same plant in my vision 260 but now I've moved them and they got trimmed they grow short. I have added root tabs but found I only get more leaves that grow short still.
Just took this on my Iphone so quality won't be too great. It's starting to grow out just need some suggestions for plants for the back of the tank that won't melt when using liquid carbon so no vallis.
Just thought I'd follow an old post up and let you know that the Molar clay has worked out a great substrate and no longer dusts. Still has that lovely natural clay colour too.
Sounds good to me apart from the bit I said earlier about the Osmocote beads not breaking down then end up mixed loose in your substrate as empty husks.
Maybe things have moved on since I used it years ago maybe the tiny balls dissolve in water? Does anyone know? As I thought the balls (shells)...
Hi guys I'm looking for a cheper alternative to seachem root tabs.
I have seen these for sale on fleebay and wondered if anyone knew how they compared...

Natural Fertilizer 48 CLAY&PEAT BALLS
I have seen the DIY Osmocote tabs...
No room for inline as it would be at the back of the aquarium where I can't see it to have it vertical rendering that pointless as a bubble counter.
I won't be lying the cannister down as its a whopper that takes the whole cabinet of the Juwel Rio 180.
The only way forward is the elbow I...
Hi all my Co2 reg attaches at the bottom so I can't put a bubble counter directly onto it.
Is there anything I can do to make this happen with my current reg?
Hi Alastair good to see your still around here you helped me out on my previous setup my vision 260 which sadly I will be selling due to lack of space so I downsized to the Rio 180.
Might sound daft but as the tank was brand new I added the substrate and then slowly increased the water level...
Put it in the tank tonight and slowly let the water rise and it's just cloudy as hell. I could not have rinsed the stuff more to begin with and its appearance in the water hasn't changed in the last five hours...
Please tell me this goes as I think taking this back out and starting from scratch...
I have bought a 30L sack of this for my new RIO 180 and I am having trouple at the first step, washing it.
I left the shower head in the bucket in the end turned the cold on so i wasnt eating the hot water and left it running the water for 50minutes and it was still running red the water.
It...
Hi guys I'm downsizing from my Juwel Vision 260 to a Rio 180 and have purchased a 30kg sack of molar clay and I've just read a lot of people are using Osmocote in their aquariums especially under the substrate when setting up. Can anyone confirm this and send me a link to the stuff.
Another...
Found a website selling it fairly cheap but the pictures on the link you sent me look a mixed array of colours as opposed to red clay colour alone. Whats the difference to this and Tesco Pink cat litter? Is it the same stuff? I have read that the cat litter after a while goes soft and mud like...
Hi all does anyone know of a Reddy Brown substrate that's good for plants that doesn't crumble and cause dust clouds?
I did use standards pettex black gravel but it loses colour way too quick then look wishy washy and gives no growth benefits.
Cheers
Cheekycharly
Fluval Fresh looks nice it's just too small for the money. £550 for 128L - a tad steep. The Roma looks nice but the choice of two cabinet colours black/grey and Oak don't fit my surroundings. I ideally need one with a white cabinet. Does nobody buy Eheim's aquariums?
Hi all I'm considering sacking off my Intense atomiser as I have to bleach it every two weeks in order for the flow from it to stay tip top. Is it time I hooked one of my two Eheim 2217's on my Juwel Vision 260 up to an inline atomiser?
What do you think?
Also do they require cleaning regular...
Cheers guys only had it 1week and its starting to melt will trim the lower leaves tomorrow but its the whole branch that's changing colour. What sort of temp does it like? As its in my planted discus tank.
Hi guys can someone ID this nice looking cheap bunch weighted plant I bought?
I am asking as I bought two bunches and one bunch has started to go dark at the base where it has been buried in the substrate. P.S. yes I took off the foam and weight :p
Did you manage to open it and get the pressure gauge reading bit to flatten down? I'm guessing opening that up would ruin the pressure in it anyway?? Not sure.
And mine arrives today faulty! The right hand gauge has a bend in the foil that shows you working psi and the needle does not sit at 0.
What was your fault? I had the same problem with my old regulator where the foil was bent and that was ordered from HK 3years ago but I'm not putting up with...
Ordered it from lu_cytime2008 there is a load of sellers on there selling the same stock TBH. Yeh saw TankScape selling it and took the risk to save a few quid as that pays for my new bubble counter some suction cups and still leaves change. Fingers crossed it will land and be fine.
Welcome matey! Feel like I know you already somehow. Hope you find the answers your looking for on this forum as the guys and gals on here have helped me lots.
Yeh ordered the pressure adjustable one now my setup is getting larger. Ordered it a few days ago now but only got eBay seller dispatched notification yesterday so may have to wait till the end of next week. Will keep you posted.
I saw this Troi on one of your previous posts...
"Hi faizal
I've been using it for a couple of weeks in combo with an up-aqua inline atomizer. I eventually managed to calibrate it to my liking (working pressure on 2kg/cm) delivering about 2 bubbles of CO2/sec, and then for some reason it went...
So in that case I would have to change my brass bubble counter for one that dangles mid way up the tubing?
What are these like in that case then...
UP CO2 Bubble Counter & Check Valve (D-512)
Cheers jacaranda I will keep it in the running of regs to look at. Does anyone else have any info on the UP Aqua A-165 and if it is a bit of a swine to get set?
Really? I read it was erratic with the bubbles I.E. you get it set right then once its been off via auto times then back on it goes haywire and bubbles galore.
Any of that?
Hi guys wanting to change my reg for one where the working pressure can be adjusted. Saw the above but have since read some bad press on the UP Aqua reg and I would like to know what my alternatives are as there doesnt seem to be much choice from Google searching.
Any info would be great guys...
Hi I'm after a new Co2 regulator that wont break the bank but will work with an UP atomser or bazooka atomiser and is adjustable pressure. I currently have a Chinese one (Azoo I think) from about 4years ago which works but isnt adjustable pressure and fails to put the co2 out of an atomiser...
