Salvinia does really well in my aquariums and l can sort of work out how much TNC Complete to dose after a while. Now far less than l initially used, just add at water change , all plants seem to be doing well

The illustrations are really good, they would make be great in fishkeeping book for children to learn, and grown ups for that matter

You could try different stems a few Hygrophilla sps fast growing to get algae reduced, and Amazon Swords for region specific .Agree invest in a drop checker-consistent CO2 is needed to benifit the plants and safety for fish and critters like shrimp,try more water changes

Something like Oliver Knott uses Anubias on hardscape with inert substrate like sand for chiclids

Water reports are a good thing to know, dip tests are probably the least accurate but you mentioning Hanna ,I believe they are the most accurate, using something like the JBL will give you a reasonable result, some things are hard to measure IMO ,Nitrate comes to mind .

Based on my own experience, l would do it on a weekend at least give a couple of days or so to get it set up, generally start with a low energy system first as @foxfish says.
