Thanks! It is looking a little iffy but it must be hard for larger plants to suddenly adapt to emersed growth. Edges a bit brown and so on. I will try and apply a little bit of fertiliser next time I am home :D

Scape is going strong! Swapped out some hardscape and added white cloud minnows, all is good!

Lights are on 6 hours a day with 1bps co2 (60 litre tank). I'll have to look for Amanos, but yes it's very stringy.

NPK are the cornerstones for plant life. Surely that can't be discounted because it lives underwater? Do whales not need the same nutrients as other mammals just because they live in the water?

Venom is a strange thing, quite curious right? Argentine ants will not give off formic acid (They are not formacine ants) and are invasive so they'll make good food, or their brood makes for a good protein snack!

Not all ants produce formic acid... But not worth the risk without being an ant boffin :eek:

Crypts will definitely bounce back, I got a bunch of big crypts that ALL melted but are slowly recovering. The ones in my scape are bouncing up now :)

Java moss never hurts! It can spread quite quickly :)

You have inspired me to try something with a bit of native moss! The floral foam I used is extremely brittle so I'll see how it goes.

Can't really see but if it's hairy with a very "sticky" or hard to remove base then it's probably BBA

I have found this too... Now have a 40l with my emersed plants, an orchid posted higher up and an attempted wabi-kusa type thing with garden moss. Time will tell if that works. Now I want a drosera and more orchids. Weird huh :p

Definitely not a fish for smaller tanks as mentioned above. But they are lots of fun to watch, I keep mine in a 250l.

I just got that info from the person who gave them to me, rather safe than sorry! Teak oil is food safe, I can also get non-toxic varnishes if won't work.

Acrylic is nice I agree, just flexes very easily under these lights. I can't cut glass to this accuracy unless I have new pieces cut at a store. Is there any way to strengthen it?

Totally doable! I just usually do it during waterchanging because it's easier to keep the plants down.

Potassium permangenate or diluted unscented bleach works well to kill any hitchhikers. I usually soak for about 30 minutes then rinse the plants thoroughly.

Do emersed. Gives you great growth and no algae, just keep it moist and well ventilated.

Probably until the MC has carpeted, I don't want my kuhlis to dig it up! Probably some time early next year when I have my co2 filled and filtration sorted.

My bioload should not be terribly high, sponges and such should work fine. I have a lot of plastic/ceramic media to choose from!

Honestly a single discus will have the effective bioload of several dozen rummynose tetras.

It's kicking in! MC is starting to grow and moss is attaching to the wood. Most of my emersed buce melted so I threw that in too. Background plants are also growing in well! 60L, I'll see what I can throw together regarding the canister for sure. Unfortunately I have never seen one of those...
