Yes, frosted film works well for the ada effect. Ideally you'll have the tank up against a white wall.

I don't think it's a clogged filter. I've never heard of that happening. Is your soil new? aquasoil (like ada) lowers ph a lot for the first 6 weeks or so. new soil + pressurized co2 + high water level with little/no ripple could be the cause. how long had the co2 been running before you...

3% h2o2 should be fine. Can you lower the water level and apply (paint) the h2o2 straight onto the dw and/or rocks? Then leave it for 5-10 mins. That would work best.

Well, it all fell apart. So I'll try something different soon. I think one of the problems is that all my 'nice' rocks are currently in my other tanks. I'm really left with the dregs for this one.

Extraordinary! Moss over the rocks gives it a lovely aged look.

At the other end of the price scale, there's the Philips Tornado bulbs. Add it to a nice desk lamp and you're all set. I'd look at getting 8w at the least,12w at the most.

Excellent build! Scape looks great. 2ft of depth is simply awesome. Could you run the power cables up the hanger wire into the roof? Or, easier option, get some nice braid and collect all the wire into one cable.

Hi Jack I really like 60x45x45. Small footprint, enough height for scapes with stems. CADE is very nice, but I'd recommend the FIRE brand. Both brands make excellent tanks, but FIRE is much cheaper. CADE stands are superior to FIRE stands, but again, the price differential makes FIRE the better...

One day Edvet, one day. Unfortunately the 4ft (the brand is Fire) is a cheaper knock-off of the 2ft (CADE). I guess to cut expenses Fire used less materials and the the stand ins 5cm shorter. btw, there's a third tank (1ft) to the right. Just pulled it apart today and got it going again...

Here's an update. Where do you think I should place the wave maker? It's a jebao rw-4. Outflow is front left.

A lot of ideas have been pitched at this scape and the execution is first class. I feel the colouration of the moss 'fingers' could be more vibrant. Perhaps the lighting is making it look darker than it really is.

Nice suggestions Keith. Tilting the hardscape to the left gives a calming water flow feel to it. It's one the the advantages of having such a wide tank.

Plumbed up new tubing and flooded the tank today. I'll start the cycle without plants (or lights) for 3-4 weeks.

On the right, I'd swap out the big rock at the back and place it at the front-right. And the two smaller rocks currently front-right, I'd place at the back. I think this has a lot of potential. Moss on the arch might be the to go, hm back left and tight. After that I'm not too sure.

I think I like the second attempt best. In the current setup the largest rock leans forward a bit too much creating shadow across the front. That can be fixed by bringing the light forward, so it's not really a big deal. If carpeting with hc I think the smaller rocks will need to be lifted up...

IMO the rock work is great the way it is. It's a bit low for a 45cm tank, but you can always lower the water line for photos. I love the way plants can grow right down to the front left. As for the two trees, their size is too similar. I see the one on the left has been lifted up. But still...

It has been done, but the advantages are debatable. This guy (aquarium shop owner) did it because he was desperate to carpet a tank quickly for a competition.

I really like your hardscape! Hair algae is a pain, increasing the P dosing will help. In the meantime remove as much as you can manually and lift the lights a little (if you can). Otherwise reduce lighting duration.
