    CO2 Cylinder pressure

I use disposable welders bottles at the moment that are 36 bar and I have it fully cranked open. I think that maybe having the needle jet set to such a low bubble rate has some bearing on things. I'm using a cheap-ish eBay reg an needle valve with a JBL solenoid and thought maybe I might need...

    CO2 Cylinder pressure

I had/have the same problem. I have to set a higher bubble rate and the gas takes 15-20 mins, as nry pointed out,to push through to the diffuser after the solenoid opens.

    Newbie Aquascape (update)

Re: Newbie Aquascape (update 2) So here's the update on the tank so far... In Go The Fish After a 40% water change at the end of my first week of EI dosing I decided to pop the fish in. I bought the tank temperature up to 24ºC and floated the bagged fish for 1/2 hour or so slowly adding tank...

    Another drop checker issue

True, but surely 4dkh water shouldn't register yellow 24/7 at 1bps for 6hrs a day. In theory shouldn't the fish be dead! and I certainly wasn't seeing rapid plant growth even with EI. I guess that ultimately the DC is only a rough indicator and shouldn't necessarily be relied upon.

    Another drop checker issue

I've had probs with my drop checker too. I was using tank water with the JBL fluid that came with my co2 kit but recently switched to 4dkh water so I could be more accurate. However, with the recommended 1.5 ml of water and 3-4 drops it was bright yellow by lights on after running for 2 hours at...

Ok thanks, I'll try 6 and if it clears I'll try 7. My stems seem to close an hour before LO so maybe they're trying to tell me something :)

Advice re diatoms (?) and new aquascape start up please

Hi there, my tank: 48 x 15 x 18 3 x 39w T5 (36" tubes) for 8hrs CO2 2 hrs before lights on - drop checker lime green at LO EI dosing (just started) daily Exel dose the fish are not back in the tank yet Just re-scaped my tank (4th week in) and I'm just coming to the end of my first week of EI...

    Newbie Aquascape (update)

Re: Newbie Aquascape Here's a quick update on the tank :) Adjustments Two weeks in and the tank seems to be ticking over nicely. There is no sign of algae thankfully. Occasionally, a stem from the feathery unidentified stem plant at the back does pop out of the gravel and has to be pushed...

    Newbie Aquascape (update)

Re: Newbie Aquascape The Waiting Game My bottle of 4dKH solution for the drop checker arrived today, day 4, so I can now be more certain of the pH/CO2 readings. The plants all look healthy and they have manage to stay rooted in the substrate. There is no sign of algae so far. I’m thinking...

    Newbie Aquascape (update)

Re: Newbie Aquascape Thx guys, Will try your suggestion re the wood. Re: Anubias, yes it is in the substrate but the rhizome is above the substrate and it leafy end is resting on the edge of the small rock next to it. I had it in the last tank planted in the same way i.e. in substrate with...

    Hi from Seaford

Just posted a journal up :shifty: I've been using Aquamania in Eastbourne quite a lot as the tanks are always clean and they have a fair selection. the only other LFS nearby that I know of is MaidenHead aquatics at the garden centre near the race course in Brighton.

    Hi from Seaford

Hi Antipofish, I've spent the last year or so reading post after post trying to absorb as much as I can. :) There's some great advise and information here. I'm now trying to put it all in to practice on my newly re-scaped tank. the first one didn't go so well.  Stu

    Newbie Aquascape (update)

Hi there, This journal is my first real post to the forum so I hope it's not too long  Feel free to comment. I'll update as the tank progresses  History I had some experience from about 20 years ago with a 6’ x 2’ x 2’ community tank and a few smaller tanks. The emphasis...
