Hi guys and girls!
In my current aquarium, angelfishes started to breed very well, for now I have around 250-300 4 weeks babies and agreed with some shop to sell them after 2-3 months.
So now I`m thinking to start this as a side business. To get 5-6 pairs of rare colors, establish some tanks and start to breed them.
Have you ever done something like this? It is profitable or no?
Will be happy to hear your advises! Thank you in advance.

If you have the space to grow them up, then it can be an option. Feed and water changes are the killer in terms of cost. Baby brine shrimp and live foods are best, but can get expensive.

Locally bred doesn't seem to get a premium, expect to get 1/2 retail price when you sell to shops.

When I looked into it I found that there is money in it, but not loads. There are a few people around me (3 stores asked), so i think it might be quite common.

I would suggest giving it a go and start slow.

Traditionally Angelfish breeding was the route that hobbiests went down to get some pocket money.

It really depends on the market size and you are going to need a pretty large catchment to avoid flooding that market.

cheers Darrel
