If you have hard, alkaline water? Iron (Fe) deficiency is always a possibility.I have come to the conclusion that I need more iron in my ferts.
It is not so much more, it is more supplying "plant available iron", have a look at <"FE EDDHA">.I’m going to try and add more iron and see if I get any difference.
Ah I'm also in Herts so this may well be (part of) my problem too. My frogbit was happily spreading but new leaves have been looking yellow recently. But I did also realise today that my filter came with activated carbon hidden in between the included fine filter media which must be absorbing the ferts I'd been dosing 🤦🏻♀️Yes being from Herts, the water is very hard.
Some of the leaves are yellow, and I haven’t seen a big increase in the amount of duckweed for the 3-4 months of the tank being active.
I did read through the post you send a link to. I think I’m starting to understand.
Not in my experience does activated carbon remove macro or micro nutrients, I do however, reduce the hardness of my water from KH of about 18 to about 8-10 and I add sequestered iron after water changes and if plants look pale/yellow. Good luck.activated carbon
OK that's good to know, thank you. I only know to use it to remove medications but based on that assumed it also would remove nutrients the plants would like. Not in my experience does activated carbon remove macro or micro nutrients, I do however, reduce the hardness of my water from KH of about 18 to about 8-10 and I add sequestered iron after water changes and if plants look pale/yellow. Good luck.
