Fittonia verschaffeltii

Dude, I like dogs, and when I look at a dog I am able to tell pretty quickly what breed is it, and the temperament, faults the breed has and what group it belongs to.

It seems that you have the same knack with plants. 🙂 How the hell do you do it?

Hi all,

Cheers Luis, I've been interested in plants since I was about 10, before that it was all animals (especially fish). I did a degree in Botany, and then I worked for a large plant nursery (mainly Hardy Ornamental Nursery Stock), before doing some horticultural research. Since that finished I've looked after a couple of glasshouses and worked as an ecologist. I managed to gain a couple of other plant related qualifications along the way. I've always had a really good memory (but only for the things that interest me), and if I ever see a plant I tend to remember it.

I couldn't think of the name of this one, but I knew it is a terrarium plant, belongs to the Acanthaceae and that it usually has white veined leaves, that took me to Fittonia, and from there to F. verschaffeltii.

cheers Darrel
