Hello everyone,
I have a Blau 17 shallow (45x24x16 cm, 5mm) and I am hoping to grow Dichromena colorata and Pogonia ophioglossoides out the top. So I need a decent tall light.
I have a few questions please about Week Aqua. I read most of the earlier posts about their range, and noted most people are opting for the S or M series.
  1. Will the Week Aqua App work if there is no phone signal or I have my phone turned off?
  2. Is there a way to manage it from my PC which has Bluetooth?
  3. Has anybody seen the V series models - do they look okay?
  4. Can the controller on the V-series be swapped to generic but aftermarket controller with more functions?
  5. Will the App stop working? Can we trust Week Aqua to maintain it?
  6. How hot do these lights get to the touch? If they were safe they should be everywhere.
Thank you, Simon

@Simon Cole I can only answer questions 1 and 6.

The app works via Bluetooth. So you have control over the app as long as it is in Bluetooth range. That creates problems if you wish to change settings when you are not at home.

I have the M series and it does not feel that hot to me. The light gives out heat but it isn't burning hot to the touch.

Thank you. To be honest it isn't that much of a problem because I'll happily modify the cooling in a PC and I can easily mod it with a retro heatsink or somesuch. Free heating too.
I'm getting quite close to going for them. If you phone is turned off does it remember the settings or does the phone orchestrate each photoperiod in live time? Don't worry if you aren't sure, somebody will know. Do you like it?

First thing.. if you need height why did you not consider their "beer can" lights?
W/ 90 degree lenses you can get more distance from the water line to the light face.

sort of would need 2 though

Rough idea for the cans is about 5" off the water line to the lens face..
The V series is like 3" off the rim without extensions.

Then again its crazy overkill with 5600 lumens and $164.00 US each
