Water Hardness Correction

We have an under sink Brita filter we use for hot drinks and cooking and it does seem to remove some of the hardness?

Thats a good tip. It will lower the KH or carbonate hardness (CaCO3)... while the CO3 is largely removed, most Ca will remain, however it's still a good idea for RO + Tap mixes where you often will end up with way more carbonates (alkalinity and in turn pH) than you want for your plants. And of course, the BRITA (or similar) filter will remove a host of unwanted compounds and toxins as well. So overall, this could be a brilliant solution for the folks that use straight tap or mix with RO.

Cheers,
Michael

I live in London where the water chemistry is similar to yours. I use tap water and the cherry shrimps are doing fine and breeding like crazy.
I used to live in London and I could never grow plants very well. Using rainwater and a bit of filtered tap the plants in my two Nano’s need constant trimming they grow so well. I don’t have CO2 or use much in the way of ferts. Substrate is plain sand.
