Using Dry Start Method

Hi all,

It honestly wouldn't have made any difference, these molds (Rhizopus, Mucor etc) are opportunistic saprotrophs <"Saprotrophic nutrition - Wikipedia"> of any nutrient rich dead material, they are universal in the atmosphere.

It is a bit like if you made Lasagne and then left it out for a week, it has been heat treated but that won't stop mold spores finding it.

cheers Darrel
Oh Ok, I thought putting it in boiling water will remove the sap or any other biological item that attracts mould. I was trying to figure out how do these rhizome plants who take nutrients from plants, get nutrients in DSM? Should I add few drops of liquid fertilizer, micronutrients and macronutrients into the water that I mist?

Good day,
so what will happen if I keep the light on 24/7 to speed up the plant growth?
I'm not being funny but I don't understand why you are always trying to speed things up, if you're looking for instant gratification then planted aquaria is probably the wrong branch of aquatics for you to be interested in, time, patience, stability and tank husbandry are four of our greatest assets (and they are free), next to nothing in a planted tank happens overnight.
In DSM there are no algae,
I personally don't think this is true, if you have water and light and especially with high nutrients you will have some form of Algae at some point.
Bucephalandra which I initially thought to be immortal like Anubias, will it benefit from DSM?
They most probably will benefit but still be prepared for melt once you flood. They are quite resilient once they get going but the first couple of months can be a little problematic. I personally wouldn't bother introducing any Aroids to a tank that is less than two or three months old especially TC. Of course it can be done with meticulous attention, knowledge and an element of luck but it's a game of chance and probably an expensive one too.
I only speak of my learning and experience.
