Upgrading to oase filter

I’m going to be restarting my 60p once I settle on a scape I like and I’m wondering if I should switch to a oase 350. I have an eheim 2217 with an inline heater that I have used to for a while but it ate an impeller shaft so I took the tank down.

The eheim is a nice filter but cleaning it is a pain. I also have an older 2213 I’m using on another tank and the bucket makes things so much easier.

Would upgrading to a oase 350 make sense? I have a new impeller for it but the idea of a prefilter seems nice since it seems easy to remove and clean each week. Having a heater is also a nice quality of life feature.

I have an Eheim Classic 350 and find it very easy to clean with one simple modification. I have three sponges in the bottom and Bio media in a home made basket. You could though just as easily put the media in a mesh bag. I don’t find my Oase Biomaster 350 any easier to clean. Disappointingly the pre-filter doesn’t stop the main media getting dirty and requiring maintenance. The only real advantage is the built in heater, which is admittedly a good idea.

This is the basket I made from oven mesh held together with small cable ties.
