Under substrate heating

Hi

I'm in the process of planning a low tech 40 gallon tank. I'm wondering what you all think of under substrate heating systems - are they worth while?

I'm thinking at the moment of using JBL Aquabasis plus capped with gravel and planting slow growing undemanding plants (if they exist lol).
