And my two more recent 50 cm temperate tanks, the first has Celestial Pearl Danios, the second Cloud Mountain Minnows.

What are your low-energy plant choices?
The big tank was inspired by Tai Streitman's 'Green Stream', the YouTube page has a very handy plant list so I just acquired as many as I could find. I also added Buce, Anubias, Alternathera, Hygrophila pinnatifida, and Limnophila aromatica. The smaller tanks are all easy plants, including the usual suspects namely Hygrophila, Rotala, Bacopa, Crypts, Echinodorus, Limnophila (smaller versions where possible). Growth is slow but that's fine and I have given up fertilising to see what happens. I was using Tropica Specialised in case I was missing anything in my water or set up, but things seem fine at the moment. Big tank is at 22 degrees, smaller tanks are unheated. Light for the big tank is at 50% of AII801 Chihoros 32W, light for the smaller tank is a combo of natural light and just 10% of my Superfish 28W lights which came with the 60 ltr tanks. Superfish now do a dimmer which makes their lights usable, but at a pricey £29, it really should be part of the package.

Thanks for the info. That’s one of my favourites as well. Seen it in the flesh more than a few times. I like what Tai and Dave have done with the planting very much. It takes me back to when more natural looking scapes were the norm not the exception. And reminds me of how I first started out. I think that’s what I like about your scapes above, they have a natural appearance and a certain flow.
