Too much frogbit

Morning,

I recently bought some frogbit and im just wondering if there is a recommended ratio to surface area it should cover?

I would say currently it's covering c70% of my heavily planted Betta tank.

I usually thin mine at that point, back to about 1/3 cover, and then let the process repeat.

I'm guessing that the Betta wouldn't care either way, it is just <"a happy medium"> to have some surface cover, but also to allow light through to the submerged plants. I tend to use their (the submerged plants) appearance as an indicator of when to thin, but the bottoms of my tanks are always a <"dark and gloomy place">.

I like to always have <"some Frogbit plants">......... <"Songs from the Man Cave!">

I've taken a bit out, mostly the pieces which had decaying leaves. Does this amount seem reasonable now?


Here's a pic of the Betta tank which just has java ferns, anubias and a couple of small bucephalandra. It looks brighter in the pic than it is in reality



I've just noticed one piece of frogbit has a flower stalk developing. It's been in a week now and although several older leaves needed removing, all the new growth (of which there seems plenty), looks healthy (I think!).
