Hey, just noticed hundreds of tiny little black and white striped bugs about 1-2mm each in my HC... they love cucumber 
Ill try and get a pic if needed...

Hi all,
They sound like Ostracods, these are "benthic detrivores" and like cucumber, they have various strategies for surviving drought so they appear in the strangest places.
They are harmless (they are basically Daphnia in a shell) and some fish eat them (Apistogramma like them), but a lot of smaller fish won't eat them.

Ok, I guessed they were harmless, just slightly concerned their numbers might get out of control? guess I will keep taking them out on the cucumber.
