You're in good company I also buy leaves out of fear of what I can and can't put in the tank and also identifying said safe leaves.
I think this is why the tutorial that @shangman was talking about would be a great resource for some of us if it gets off the ground.

Well I tried my little Repashy cubes in a high sided bowl. Still floated out!! 🙄 but…..settled just behind the bowl where the flow was blocked (along with the wafers that did the same) and Woohoo!

At least now I know that if I can get it to stay in one place, they will, in fact, eat it!
