Strange stuff in my new tank

Hi all,

I'm new to this forum and to planted tanks in general and I hope somebody on here can help me

I'm currently fishless cycling my tank. It's been running for just under a week and I'm getting algae growth. The algae doesn't really concern me at the moment but I'm not sure what this fluffy-stringy-stuff is. Any ideas? And, could it be something problematic?

As long as the stringy stuff isn't something deadly to the plants and can be removed by hand then that's enough for me
