Hi all. Can i use water which has been softened with our water softener? as i want to fix an hose pipe to our kitchen sink which has unsoftened cold water and softened hot water so i can put warm water back in the tank then put water drops in the fish tank when finished the water change in our fresh water marine fish tank many thanks

Do you need salt blocks for your water softener? If so, no, certainly for any fresh water system. A marine system I will leave an answer to someone else but obviously you have keep salt levels absolutely right in a marine tank.

Unfortunately what the others say <"Household water softener water usability">.

Because of where you live <"Some handy facts about water"> you are going to have hard water, with a lot of calcium (Ca), <"and the ion exchange swaps one calcium ion (Ca++) for two sodium (Na+) ions">.

This is a useful reference from <"Lenntech"> - <"https://www.lenntech.com/Data-sheets/Ion-Exchange-for-Dummies-RH.pdf">

cheers Darrel
