Shrimp Safe Aquarium Vac?

I think the answer is probably no, but I thought I’d ask.

I have some dead spots in the tank where detritus settles, often pieces of moss. The shrimps of course love this area and removing it with a siphon hose would quickly empty a 60L Nano. I have in the past tried using a smaller hose but it’s not ideal.

That was going to be my suggestion.

Best thing i've found is using a cast off old net, cutting out the net bit and holding it secure over the end of the siphon with a rubber band.

Obviously for shrimplets a smaller size of netting would be needed, but regular nets work well for adult shrimp
 
This over the inlet of the vacuum works for me when I occasionally vacuum (make sure the mesh is not too fine), but needs frequent cleaning during the vacuuming.

Avoid dead spots to begin with.
