Hi all. I picked up some Selaginella today from my local Maidenhead Aquatics. I've heard mixed reviews on whether it will grow submersed or not, so it's a bit of an experiment. Please can I hear of any experiences you've had with it?

Thank you Natalie, you have just identified a plant I had about 20 years ago & never knew what it was called!
As I recall it grew incredibly slowly in a low tech tank with abysmal lighting & poor fertilisation, I eventually got rid of the plant as I didn't think it was a true aquatic species.
I'm afraid none of this really helps answer your question, though I will be interested to see how you get on!

I picked it up, happy to grow it as a riparium if submersed didn't work. I'll keep a close eye and see what happens. I'm fairly certain I'll be hauling it out of the tank shortly. It's a lovely plant, so it could always be potted and put on the plant ladder in our lounge.

I gave two selaginella a go in a terrarium - one of them is doing really well, but in high humidity, the other didn‘t make it (can trawl through eBay history to find the variety if that’s of interest):

Natalie,
Most of the aquarium plants grow without water or next to place full with water. Waterfalls or fast river. Just to say all plants which come in Bulgaria from west providers are putted in plastic case. When you buy they have to be adappted in water long time
