Afternoon all
Hope everyone is well.
Just noticed today that one of my rosy tetras has frosted eye. I have it for 1.5 weeks but only noticed this today. 2 days ago did maintenance on the aquarium. I have never experienced anything like this before so not even sure where to start? Is this physical damage or disease? It’s still very active and hungry. All other 11 remaining rosy tetras and 9 diamond tetras looking good/healthy.

Some pictures of the affected fish

Hello - I can give you a view of what I think. (Please use in conjunction with others views and your own).

Assuming it's just one eye, it could be bacterial or injury. It could even be pop-eye (I can't really see well from pictures), but since that is also likely bacterial, then it's the same source. Treating bacterial infections is hard, but I have found that increasing environmental husbandry (i.e., minimising other stresses on the fish's immune system) can be very effective if the situation does not get worse. More frequent water changes for a while and lighter feeding. The only other research I could find about cloudy eyes was related to chlorine and chloramines.

I would check every day to see progress and then take a view. There seem to be many bacterial medications on the net, but I rarely have seen success with them.

Thank you @Bradders.

I started googling immediately after seeing the eyes and just in case also asked here as I could attach some pictures to aid diagnosis.

According to Gemini on google search this is a damage/scratch in most cases and cloudiness is direct response from immune system. There is no fluffiness so I guess we can rule fungus out.

I do weekly tank maintenance like trimming plants, lightly vacuuming substrate, cleaning glass and prefilter, replacing about 70% of water (tap water).

This is high energy system with moderate lighting.

Last maintenance session had to replant few overgrown stems. So could scare the fish accidentally causing it to bump into dragon stone. Which as we know may be sharp.

I guess best course of action here is as you have advised- just keep an eye and see how it develops. Fingers crossed this is not bacterial infection.

The aquarium looks beautiful!

My view would be to keep a close eye on the fish but buy any medication that you think would help in preparation. (i.e. so you can act quickly).
The fact that no other fish looks ill, the tank looks well kept and the fish itself is looking and acting great, I think throwing mediation in at this stage could be premature.

I can't tell completely from the pictures but it doesn't look raised so i would suggest it an abrasion. If it is raised then bacterial infection is likely but fish don't have eyelids so knocks and bangs can cause cloudiness.

The only other things i'd consider is diamond tetra can be a little boisterous. They would normally take it out on the fins and i don't think they are big enough yet to have caused an issue but its something to look out for.

Stunning tank, good luck with the fish. Can't add anything to the above.
Thank you. It had it’s ups and downs but in general I really enjoy it.

So far they only chasing own kind. I had serpae tetra before and those were quite aggressive to other kinds despite I had 20 of them.

Does anyone know how long it takes to get eye back to normal in case if that was just an injury?
I don't know personally , but probably several weeks - if it indeed heals at all. In this period what you are looking/checking for is signs of deterioration, or secondary issues.
