It is pathetic. As is always the case in legal claims of any type though, the winners are always the lawyers!
A couple of years ago I was involved (on the employer side of the fence) with a bogus hearing loss comp claim - cost the company £400 in fees, the ex-employee got £150 for their fake claim - the insurance companies settled the legal fees of . . . . £160k! (Just three years of lawyers sending letters to one another - never saw the inside of a court).
