Hi all,
This one was about 1.5m tall with a 1m spread:
It is a New Zealand "Hebe", (they are all now officially Veronica spp.).

A lot of them aren't very hardy, but as this one looks fairly unscathed, so it maybe Veronica "Black Knight", "Mint Chocolate" or "Joan Mac"* <"Shrubby Veronica trial results 2021–2023">. Unfortunately it is "pick a name" with Hebe cultivars <"Veronica Midnight Sky (Lowtens ;PBR) (Garden Beauty Series) (H) | hebe [Midnight Sky] Shrubs/RHS">.
..... This trial was cut short due to a severe winter devastating the RHS Wisley trial in 2022/23. The trial judges were, however, able to grant nine new AGMs, reconfirm 11 AGMs and rescind 18 AGMs, updating the list of existing AGMs to reflect the best shrubby Veronica currently available on the market......
They need a sunny place, and grow fairly rapidly, they aren't normally long lived. This one should have a small spikes of purple flowers.

They are all M"very easy to propagate">, <"as semi-hardwood cuttings"> (which is partially why Nurseryman like them so much*). About late April / May would be ideal for the tip cuttings, about 6" long and with the bottom leaves removed, just leaving ~ three pairs.

Hi all,

If I see a similar plant locally I'll root some cuttings for you. Normally I'd say "try to root", but Hebe are pretty easy to do.

cheers Darrel

Thanks for the offer Darrel that's very kind, but don't worry too much - I have to order several other shrubs to re-do our garden this spring, so I'll add a pot of the Hebe also.
