Alright guys,

I was watching a video on current led lights and noticed a fern looking plant. I very much like ferns but didn’t realise I could have an aquatic version, besides java ferns.

I’ve taken a screen shot of the video, if any of you could help me ID it as I’ve had no luck so far.

Have you guys kept this plant before, if so what was your experience with it?

That's rather going to be a difficult one.. But i know there are a number of very rare new fern spp. in the hobby comming from the east. There is a Polish LFS specialized in rare mosses and occasionaly ferns and i've seen a number of newly discovered fern species comming along which are yet no where documented as aqaurium suitable. So it also could be the case they not realy are aquarium plants at all for the long run.

They have a facebook page as well where new finds are presented and or offerd for sale as well..

Thank you for the replies. I thought it may have been a terrestrial plant included just for the video aesthetics.

I’ll check out the species mentioned above 🙂

Hi all,
That is definitely a terrestrial fern.
Bolbitis heudelotii or heteroclita
Even Bolbitis heteroclita isn't very happy submerged long term. If you want any Bolbitis heudelotii, I have a lot spare.

A few people tried the more "ferny" looking <"Hymenasplenium obscurum">, but it never looked happy with me, and I don't know if any-one was successful long term.

cheers Darrel
