Woow! That's lovely.. 🙂 I'm curious as well andvery interested in flowering plants for aquarium.. Unfortunately i don't know what this is, first i thought it could be in the Schizostylis family, but the flower is comming a leaf short for that. Yours has 5 leaves and more narrow. And the underwater growth looks more like a Potamogeton style, but i believe they don't flower.. 🙂

Could be something in the anthericum family (Watergrass - Afrika)

Plants and Flowers in particular are coloring your day 🙂 can't imagine anybody not touched by that. And anybody saying they don't, i believe it just an infantile lei because of a deep rooted frustration. 🙂.

Thanks a million Darrel, going to find me one.. 🙂 I looked the stargrass up and saw a totaly different yellow flower.

You probaply found Heteranthera dubia, also a common tank-plant - this has yellow flowers.

Only googled star grass and images and only saw yellow buttercup like flowers, didn't bother to look at the names.. I guess yellow isn't my favorite color and didn't look that appealing as the Zosterifolia.

It was Hipoxis hirsutra (Yellow Stargrass) 🙂 and even not realy buttercup like, they more like the schizostylus (Which i got in red), definitively the yellow playing tricks with my mind..

Lovely.

Any idea on someone in the UK that can supply this?

Also any other aquatic plants that flower in this way?

Here in Netherlands and Germany i see they are quite common and can be ordered all over the place, but non of them shows or tell about the flowering. 🙂

I remember the Tropica site showing pictures of the flowering plant if it can. I was surprised how many do, like all Enchinodorus can flower, not that beautifull in color and shape but a flower never the less.

If they flower easily, depends on sertain factors of care, like f.e. lights/hours that can be different in plant species. Some flaower late when days getting short others when days are long. I would like my Nymphea to flower, it likes the long days of sun, but they are sensitive to flow or to much surface agitation and will not flower easily in such conditions. So i have to find a balance in that as well. So often it will be a matter of chance or being very carefull in choosing and knowing what combination of species like same conditions in climate/suroundings and also firt. Like some plants like extra P or K to flower more easily. So flowering is not always self evident with flowering plants, often you need to know and do something for that when you keep them inside under artificial light. 🙂
